As a data collection intern, Fernando is responsible for mapping commercial rent data, developing merchant directories for businesses located throughout Oakland’s business districts, and analyzing other key demographic data. This work will help support small business development and marketing, as well as identify entrepreneurship trends and changes over time. Since he’s from East Oakland, Fernando has an innate drive to help support low-income communities that experience financial hardship. He is looking to utilize his position at Main Street Launch as a platform to undertake this goal. He has a well-grounded background in economics and is passionate about data analytics and its capabilities to provide meaningful insights for organizations.
Outside of work, Fernando enjoys doing graffiti art, fixing cars, and traveling to different cities; he has yet to travel outside of the continent!
