There are some great articles out there about small business resolutions to help move your business forward in 2018 (check out this one, this one, and this one). In this post, we offer some resources to help your business pursue some of the common goals we hear about from small business owners.
Review and revise your business plan
The Small Business Development Center network is an incredible resources. They operate all over the country, and we’re proud to work closely with SBDCs all over the state of California. Their expert advisors are ready to review your business plan, operations, financials, marketing, and more, at no cost to you. Our partners at the Northern California SBDC are ready to help you achieve your goals.
Hire new employees
Expanding your team can help you grow your business and help you manage all the work that needs to be done in your growing business. Localwise offers local businesses a job board to connect with local job seekers. It’s a great resource to connect with job candidates.
Consult a lawyer
Before you hire, you may need advice about how to create an employee handbook, how to manage an hourly employee, or other legal questions. Lawyers can also advise you on contracts, answer questions about intellectual property, and more. Luckily, there are no-cost resources to help you manage what can become expensive for a small business. Check out Sustainable Economies Law Center, Legal Services for Entrepreneurs, and Start Small Think Big for more information about no-cost legal services.
Expand your web presence
One of the best ways to grow your “findability” online is to have more clickbacks to your website (a clickback is a link on another website that takes someone to your site). Main Street Launch is building local directories of small businesses (our first ones are for the entire City of Oakland and in San Francisco’s Chinatown). To list your business in our directories, contact us. We’ll write a description, take photos, and put your whole profile together for you!
Schedule in self-care
We are so lucky to work with incredible small businesses who can help you care for yourself while you start and grow your business. Check out our client map for a list of businesses including yoga studios, massage therapists, art schools, fitness studios, and more. Tell us about your local self-care on Facebook!
Small businesses are unique, and if you need help finding the right resource for your small business’ goals, please contact us. We’d be happy to refer you or help you figure out the right resource for you!
