Stephanie Brown, founder of the Rosie Network, spoke to conference attendees about her seven tips for starting a new business. Click here to read her tips in full. Stephanie’s tips are:
- Success isn’t just about money.
- Don’t be afraid of failure.
- Know your market and competition.
- Know your value proposition.
- Perfection is the enemy of action.
- Create a business that is going to create more than money.
- Know you are not alone in your entrepreneurial journey.
Her speech was inspirational and energizing, and her tips offer a realistic look at the best parts and the challenging parts of entrepreneurship. In particular, we resonated with tip #6 “create a business that is going to make more than money.” Many of our clients, veterans and non-veterans are motivated by solving a problem as they launch their business. Take Laura Renner, owner of Freedom Makers, helping connect business owners with virtual assistants and employing military spouses as the assistants to give them the freedom to pursue work under often-changing living conditions.
Events like the 2018 Veteran Entrepreneurship Freedom Summit occur across California, working to bring resources to veteran entrepreneurs and to connect the community of veteran small business owners with one another.
