Kelly’s work at Main Street Launch supports the development and expansion of Shop Oakland Now and Shop Chinatown small business directories. She became passionate about sharing the unique stories of small businesses from her experiences serving women entrepreneurs as an AmeriCorps VISTA and reporting for Oakland Local and KPFA.
With a master’s degree in International Affairs and Media from The New School, she has worked with organizations in Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua, and New York City to address issues such as refugee resettlement, community development, and youth empowerment. She received her undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, where she played hockey and learned to love poutine. Her French is pathétique but she’s nearly fluent in Portuñol.
