Kelly manages marketing and impact projects for Main Street Launch. She initially joined the organization to support the development and expansion of the Shop Oakland Now and Shop Chinatown small business directories. She became passionate about sharing the unique stories of small businesses through her experiences working with women entrepreneurs as an AmeriCorps VISTA and reporting for the nonprofit newsrooms of Oakland Local and KPFA.

 

Kelly holds a master’s degree in International Affairs & Media from The New School in New York City. She has worked with organizations in Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua, and across the US on issue areas such as refugee resettlement, community development, and youth empowerment. She received her undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, where she played hockey and learned to love poutine. Her French is pathétique but she’s nearly fluent in Portuñol.
