In what ways do you think OBDC brings value to our communities?
For 36 years OBDC has been working with small business owners, providing access to capital, and in turn, our clients have created jobs for thousands of Bay Area residents. 63% of the businesses we have served reside in low-to-moderate income areas. We are changing the landscape of it what it means to be a successful small business owner. We give the aspiring entrepreneur the opportunity to achieve their lifelong dream of becoming an independent, self-reliant business owner across all communities through the tools, education, technology, and the assistance we provide.
In what ways do you work with our clients? What’s a brief description of your role at OBDC?
As the Assistant Vice President – Loan Servicing, I am responsible for servicing the entire OBDC Small Business Finance portfolio which entails payment tracking and processing, monthly credit reporting, providing post technical assistance, default monitoring, preparing action plans for restructuring and workouts, just to name a few. I am your point of contact for all loan servicing needs and concerns.
What inspires you about your work at OBDC?
I am proud to be part of an organization that helps so many entrepreneurs get their foot in the door and gives them a chance to prevail. Giving our borrowers the opportunity to thrive and flourish is exceedingly rewarding and makes for a lasting impression and impact for both myself and our clients. It is also an inspiration to be part of such a vast community of like-minded individuals that support the mission of being a small business owner, which I believe is a key success factor of any business endeavor.
What do you love about working at OBDC?
I am a constant witness to the commitment of our borrowers, the transmission of our values, and the cultivation of our client relationships in and out of our offices. When taking a jaunt or meandering around the neighborhood, I cannot fully express the joy I experience when a client recognizes me and I see their smile and hear their unadulterated expression of gratitude. It is that interaction that tugs at my heartstrings. Another reason why I love working at OBDC is that it has provided me the opportunity to become an ambassador to my community.
