Chamaine Woffard was first exposed to the power and impact of design as a page editor for her high school newspaper. Chamaine transformed her interest into her first job as a typesetter. She started her professional career as an entrepreneur and graphic designer while putting herself through college. Chamaine desired more flexibility after giving birth to her now five year old son; so, she founded Wellington Studio, coupling her creative skills with her graphic and web design background along with the corporate experience she gained in print production. Main Street Launch selected Chamaine for its second Entrepreneur in Residence cohort. Chamaine is currently looking to take Wellington Studio to the next level.
“Meeting Robert [Lattimore, Senior Vice President] showed me how powerful a mentor like him can be. He has shown me how to be methodical in making strong business decisions and how to be strategic in achieving business success,” she says. “There are not a lot of black women in my industry; so, it’s hard to find role models. Being an entrepreneur requires a stomach of steel. Each month, I’m building relationships to generate new business. The mentorship I’m receiving in the Entrepreneur in Residence program is giving me the tools and showing me the realities of how to attain more success and balance in my business,” reflects Chamaine.
