Our innovative partnerships and collaborative approach help our clients create jobs and stimulate economic development in our communities. Our partnerships with cities create opportunities to deeply invest in businesses and neighborhoods that need it most.
OBDC is proud to call Oakland our hometown, and our partnership with the City of Oakland launched our organization in 1979. Currently, OBDC is partnering with the City of Oakland to help small businesses survive the construction of the new East Bay Bus Rapid Transit route and thrive after the bus is up and running. The Oakland Business Sustainability Program helps existing businesses prepare an action plan, connect with customers, enhance curb appeal, and improve operations. OBDC also offers small business loans through a variety of loan funds, enabling businesses to access resources to support their business growth. Construction can have major impacts on small businesses, and our goal is to empower existing businesses with the resources and knowledge to thrive. Through the City of Oakland’s partnership and investment, OBDC has been able to build a comprehensive list of consulting and financing options for business owners.
OBDC is thrilled to be a San Francisco-based organization. Since 2013, OBDC has been managing the City’s Emerging Business Loan Fund (EBLF). The purpose of EBLF is to originate commercial loans that support high impact businesses and projects to increase economic activity in San Francisco and create jobs for low-to-moderate income individuals. Last summer, OBDC was thrilled to announce our 100th San Francisco loan in the last five years. As our partnership with the City of San Francisco continues to grow, we’re excited to share the stories of the incredible entrepreneurs starting and growing thriving businesses in the City.
Economic development, job creation, and community empowerment works best through collaboration and city investment. OBDC is proud to work at the nexus of small business lending and economic development, supporting our neighbors to achieve their dreams and transform our communities.
