Infinite Performance Physical Therapy is a specialized physical therapy clinic dedicated to athletes who seek the highest level of performance. Unlike traditional physical therapy clinics, Infinite Performance Physical Therapy focuses on providing targeted, sport-specific rehabilitation and training, creating an environment where athletes can truly excel. The clinic was founded with the vision of offering athletes the tailored care they need to recover and perform at their peak.
The founder, Dr. Janae Young, is a former collegiate athlete and played professional basketball in Europe for six years. She started Infinite Performance PT out of a desire to offer something more to athletes. After working in a general physical therapy clinic for several years, she realized that while these environments were sufficient for the average person, they didn’t meet the unique needs of athletes. “I played basketball at a high level and knew firsthand how frustrating it was to work with someone who didn’t understand what I needed as an athlete,” she shared. This personal experience, combined with her academic background in sports medicine and the knowledge she gained from rehabbing her own injuries during her athletic career, fueled her passion to create a specialized service for athletes.
Starting a business during the pandemic was challenging, but Janae’s determination pushed her forward. Initially operating out of a 1,000-square-foot subleased facility, she faced an unexpected hurdle when the lease ended, just as she was gaining momentum. This setback led Janae to seek a space of her own, which eventually brought her to Main Street Launch through the Sacramento Valley SBDC. With the support of Main Street Launch, she secured funding to equip her new facility with the necessary tools to accommodate team training sessions. The loan allowed her to purchase new equipment, including multiple sets of kettlebells and other essential items, transforming the space into a more team-friendly environment.
Janae says that the process of securing the loan was thorough and demanding, but ultimately rewarding. She admitted that before seeking funding, her business operations were somewhat informal. “I started the business in February 2023 and was kind of winging it that whole year. I didn’t have a professional tax person or legal help,” she explained. Mike McGrane, VP – Senior Relationship Manager, worked with Janae throughout the application process, providing guidance to help her set up the business for long-term success.
One of the most significant insights for Janae was understanding her true financial situation. “Mike showed me that I was making more money than I thought, but because it was coming in and out, I didn’t notice. It was really eye-opening,” she reflected. This newfound financial clarity has enabled Janae to manage her finances better and schedule tasks more efficiently, setting a strong foundation for future growth.
With the loan in place and the business growing, Janae is excited about the future. Since its inception, Infinite Performance Physical Therapy has been a one-person operation, with Janae managing every aspect of the business. However, she has contracted a performance trainer and is working towards bringing him on as a full-time employee by the end of the year, with plans to hire another physical therapist next year.
Expanding the team will allow her to focus more on training young athletes, particularly teens, and continue building Infinite Performance PT into a leading destination for sports-specific rehabilitation. “Most people don’t know how the body actually functions. I work with a lot of young athletes. If I can help them crack the code, learn what’s efficient, I’m giving them something I didn’t have,” she says. With support from Main Street Launch, this clinic is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of the athletes it serves, helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
