Main Street Launch is pleased to announce our newest board member, Rohan Kalbag. Rohan is an executive vice president at Wells Fargo with over 20 years of leadership experience in a variety of roles within the institution’s Commercial Banking division. His successful track record of professional advancement demonstrates his acumen for credit administration, lending product management and governance, risk management, and credit underwriting. We’re thrilled to have his expertise in these areas to help guide Main Street Launch’s strategy and operations as a mission-driven lender.
“Access to capital is critical to support local business growth in the communities that Main Street serves,” says Rohan. He understands that not all entrepreneurs have equal financing opportunities, and is motivated to address the disparities he sees in the field. He adds, “I am particularly passionate about improving the access to equity and debt capital for diverse and women-owned businesses that are traditionally underserved by the commercial banking system.”
Rohan brings extensive international business experience and a strong commitment to community service to our organization. He was born in the United Kingdom, and moved to the United States in 1995. He has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Australia, and Taiwan. Rohan is a founder and board member of Change a Path, a nonprofit organization focused on eliminating sex trafficking through their work in grant-making and education. He also serves on the board of Meals on Wheels San Francisco, and is mentor for first generation college students through Berkeley Community Scholars.
Rohan graduated with honors with a B.A. in economics and history from the University of Bristol in England. He has an M.A. in Far East Asian Studies from the University of London and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is married and has two daughters, Zoe and Esme. Outside of work, Rohan enjoys running, cooking, and attempting to grow vegetables.
