OBDC is fortunate to work with cities to help small businesses launch, grow, and succeed. One major obstacle to business survival is construction. Construction keeps traffic away (foot traffic, cars, everyone!). Instead of avoiding construction, when you see it, go shopping.
One place you can start is Latham Square Plaza in Oakland. At the intersection of Broadway and Telegraph near 14th Street, construction is challenging small businesses trying to maintain their daily operations. Here are a couple of places to visit and enjoy:
Awaken Cafe hosts a happy hour every day from 4-7pm, featuring 50% off all draft beer and wine. They also partner with other local small businesses to bring you Four Barrel Coffee and assorted locally sourced salads, sandwiches, and pastries. They host incredible events and are wifi free to encourage talking, knitting, and thumb-wrestling.
Laurel Book Store is your neighborhood bookstore. They offer a great selection, and will also order and ship what you need directly to your door. Get new releases, classic favorites, local celebrations, and more! They also host incredible events that you can find on their events calendar.
Pop into Uptown Juice Company for a cold-pressed juice or order your supplies online. They’re a great source to help you with your nutrition goals!
